Macie has started the funniest thing lately. She will literally have a conversation with God while looking off in the distance and slightly up toward the sky. This happened on Saturday and Amy has done a wonderful job of recording the story on her blog, so click here to read it.

Maybe I don’t want my dreams to come true!
October 6, 2008I am not sure where you were on Saturday night, but if you were like me you were watching the ridiculous Elite XC fight on CBS. I wish something better would have been on because all in all, it was a terrible waste of time. But, like many others, I wanted to see Kimbo Slice and the circus that he is. I was also hoping for a few entertaining fights but everything from the fights to the announcing was lame. I am not sure where they found their announcers but this was hopefully the last MMA broadcast they will be doing.
The pre-fight interviews were ridiculous. At one point the female interviewer, not sure of her name, was talking to Gina Carano. She said, “I just know that sometimes women want to open a can.” That coming from her was absolutely hysterical. Reminded me of some early day WWF interviews.
Then when Kimbo, street brawler turned hype machine, came out the announcing took a turn for the worse. Watch the video but let it load for a minute or two. The first 5 minutes are opening announcements and introductions. Listen to the announcer once the fight is over. He labels it the most incredible victory in the history of MMA. This all happens at about the 5:20 mark. Another announcer says, “This is what MMA is all about. If you have a dream and you are willing to step into a cage and fight for your life you can be anything you want.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?
That kind of sealed the deal for me, no more Elite XC fights. It’s UFC or nothing. The other guys simply can’t put the whole event together. I watched the Affliction fight several weeks ago and they kept cutting to Mega Death in between fights. Seriously, Mega Death? Hey guys, stop trying and wasting your millions and my minutes. Send the millions you are wasting to Africa and buy food for people or something.

Obama Strikes again!
September 15, 2008One more reason I will be voting for Obama, he plans on adding more states to our country. Seriously, when did we get 58 states? I agree that we need some change in Washington, but maybe he is taking things too far!

Monday Inspiration
September 15, 2008After being out all last week on vacation visiting the vacation mecca of the known world, Disney World, I needed something extra to get going this morning and this video was there waiting for me. I will post about the vacation later but this video is priceless and kinda like Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop. Seriously, try to watch it just once, you can’t. You have to watch it at least twice and by then its too late, the song is stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Enjoy!
Hey Robbie, can we try this one Sunday?

We have hope again!
September 2, 2008According to the News and Advance, Tyrod Taylor will not be watching us lose any more games this season. We may still lose one or two, but it will be with him in the game not calling in plays. He’ll be wearing a helmet instead of headphones. Thank goodness the Glennon experiment is over.
because you asked, here is my analysis of the situation, Glennon doesn’t handle the pressure of being by himself very well. He seems to play best knowing there is a safety net to catch him when he screws up. He can go out and play freely knowing if things aren’t going well, then Tyrod can come in and shake things up. This seemed to be the case last year, as Glennon became the QB we wanted once they started tag teaming. Tyrod brings a spark Glennon simply doesn’t have.
This reminds me why I love Frank Beamer so much. He knows the team needs Tyrod but he still won’t throw Glennon under the bus, which many would argue would be fitting. Part of me thinks Taylor should just start now and begin his three year reign as Hokie QB, but I know Glennon will still get reps. Lets just hope now that his tag team partner is back, we can right the ship and make Hokie Nation proud. Now the only thing left to do is come up with a catchy nickname for them. RB’s get them all the time, generally its Thunder and LIghtnin’ or something like that. Maybe we could go with: Past and Present, Scares the Crap out of me and I Feel Safe Again, or Three and Out and Good Offense. What do you think?

Remove the Redshirt
August 31, 2008I consider myself a very forgiving person. No matter what others say, I usually give the benefit of doubt to someone. So, when Frank Beamer said he was going with Sean Glennon, I figured there was a good reason. But my wife ran to the bathroom and threw up. Not really, but it was close. I am afraid to watch the rest of the season if we do not start Tyrod Taylor from now on.
We win today with Tyrod at the helm. WE know he can throw at least as well as Glennon but he can run much better. Well actually Glennon can’t run, so I would be better in that category. With Taylor in, we score on that first series where Glennon was picked and we probably kick a FG the next time and we are up 10-0 and the game looks completely different.
Every time Glennon drops back I get scared. I never believe anything good will happen when he drops back, and usually I am right. He did complete one nice pass. ONE! Put in Taylor, we all know he can complete a few passes and opposing D’s have to keep a few guys back waqtching in case he runs. Hands down, we are better with Taylor.
Today we got beat from every angle against ECU. If we don’t change things up, it is going to be a long long season. I believe in you Beamer, but I don’t believe in Glennon. At least if we lose with Taylor the game will be watchable!

Hokies Unite!!!
August 29, 2008Its that time of year again, and by that time I mean Football time. I painfully endured the South Carolina vs NC State game last night merely because it was football. And after watching the first half, the term football would have been debatable. It was ugly, each and every botched play, but it was better than the Law and Order that was being shown on about 15 different channels. Tomorrow, at 12 on ESPN the Hokies make their first appearance. I am both very excited and scared at the same time. I really wish we were playing at home, but I trust in Beamer Ball. Sean Glennon is another thing though, and he will be in my prayers tonight. For now, sit back and enjoy the best entrance in all the land!

I am kinda almost famous now
August 29, 2008I am posting this because I think it is funny, so I want to say that up front. About three months ago I was interviewed by a lady here within LifeWay and I figured it was for marketing or something. Now, I find out the interview was published in the Baptist Press. I have never bee to their site before, honestly I did not know it existed. But, right there under the picture of Johnny Hunt, is my interview. You can click here to read the article. The only improvement would have been my picture under his on the main page. Now that would have been funny.

Back where I come from
August 13, 2008I caught this video from the Roanoke Paper. Roanoke is about 45 minutes from my home in Virginia and about 45 minutes from my old stompin’ grounds in Blacksburg. There is simply too much in this video to make comments on so I will let you. Everything from the clothes he wears, the song he is singing, the cigarette stuck to the guitar, to his actual occupation is simply too funny. THis is one of those stories so good you couldn’t make it up. Watch and let me know what you think.
